The Winery:
Sophie Baron Champagne was founded by Gabriel and Dolorès Baron in Charly-sur-Marne and is named after their daughter. Sophie joined her namesake property in 1982 and currently works alongside her winemaker brother, Ignace.

The Baron family owns 38 hectares of sustainably managed vineyards in the champagne, planted mainly with Pinot Meunier, which comprises 60% of their Grande Réserve blend, alongside 30% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir. The Grande Réserve is fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless-steel tanks and undergoes malolactic fermentation to give the final expression excellent complexity and texture. Following secondary fermentation in bottle, it is aged on its lees for three years and has a balanced dosage of 10 grammes per litre. The dominance of Pinot Meunier in the blend gives this crisp and lively champagne richness and red berry fruit.
