About This Product :

Varietal:
100% Merlot

Appellation:
AOC Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux

The Viticulture:
The 3,60 hectares of Chateau les Donats are established on particular soils, characterized by the presence of veins of small graves; this provide an asset for the ripeness of the grapes and the fruity and soft aromas of our wines. The average age of the vines is 30 years old, with a 100% Merlot. Most of the operations are done by
hand: debbuding, green harvest, etc… The final crop is also hand made. All these attentions are done to provide, every year, the greatest quality on each millesime.

Vinification:
100% Stainless steel, macerated for 15 days.

Tasting Notes:
Loads of red fruit notes and supple tannins- a nice grip on the palate with a dry finish.

Pairings:
Good with a cheeseburger, or some wagyu sliders.

Reviews:
“The 2022 wine has gentle tannins and rounded black fruits. With its blueberry aroma and fragrant fruits, this 100% Merlot is full and ready to age until later in 2025.” — Roger Voss, Wine Enthusaist

The Winery:
Château Martinat’s vineyard is located in the commune of Lansac, at the heart of the Côtes de Bourg appellation, in a rolling landscape close to the Gironde river. This geographical setting provides the estate with a temperate climate and favorable sunshine. A beautiful vein of white gravel runs through the property, enriching the terroir.
Taken over in 1994 with the ambition of revealing the full potential of its terroir, the estate is now certified HVE 4 (High Environmental Value).
The “Martinat team” consists of two collaborators: Cyrille Baillou and Sophie Baraillé. Each year, they also call on a small team for vineyard work, especially during harvest.
