The Grapes:
Xarel.lo, Macabeu and Muscat
The Appellation:
D.O. Penedès. Sub region: Upper Penedès (Muscat) and Central Penedès (Xarel.lo and Macabeu)
Altitude of the vineyards: 150m (Xarel.lo and Macabeu) and 250m (Muscat).
Climate: mild Mediterranean.
Annual rainfall: an average of 465 liters per square meter.
Soil: clay and calcareous.
The Winemaking:
Harvest: hand gathered to select the best grapes. The harvest starts at beginning of September with the Macabeu and the Muscat and it finishes in mid-September with the Xarel.lo. Pressing and must fermentation: pneumatic press. Musts selection, only the best juices will be for the Marta Violet elaboration.
Each variety of grapes fermented separately at a constant temperature of 16ºC in small stainless steel tanks.
Blend: Xarel.lo, Macabeu and Muscat.
Fermentation temperature: 15-16 ºC.
The Wine:
Appearance: It presents a beautiful pale yellow color.
Aroma: It’s fresh with fruity and floral notes.
Palate: It has a good balance with smooth palate and pleasant finish.
The Pairing:
Gastronomy: It’s recommended for aperitif, assorted salads, pasta, rice and fish dishes. Enjoy anytime of the day.
Tips: served cold, between 6ºC to 8ºC, in wine glass type, transparent, thin and without decoration.

The Winery:
Miquel Canals Ollé was the founder of the winery which today bear the name of RAMON CANALS. From its very origins, the Canals family has been linked to the cultivation of vineyards and the production of wine. The family house and our wine cellars in Castellví de Rosanes, a small village in the wine-growing region of the Penedès denomination of origin region, date back to our beginnings in 1903.
In 1978, through the marriage of MªÀngels Canals Duran and Ramon Canals Llaverol, the RAMON CANALS was founded. The company offers a wide range of products which are made with the utmost dedication in order to satisfy the most discerning palates, using always grapes from sustainable vineyards with respect to the environment.
Today their sons, Ramon and Marta Canals are ready to inherit the family wisdom and keep it as cultural heritage, a company in harmony with technical advances and an ever-increasing market.
Ramon has a Pharmacy Degree, Oenology Degree and Master’s degree in viticulture, oenology and marketing of wine. He has a wide experience making wine in several of the most prestige wine region of the world: France (Champagne), Australia (Yarra Valley and Tasmània), New Zealand (Marlborough), California (Napa Valley) and England. Ramon is on charge of the winemaking and commercial area of the company.
Marta has a Business degree and is on charge of the administration and quality control of all the products of the company.
