Our red wines are made from the Muscat Bailey A grape, a variety unique to Japan developed by the “father” of Japanese wine, Zenbei Kawakami.

The Wine:
This rosé sparkling wine is a blend of Muscat Bailey A saignée juice and Koshu grapes.
It is an extremely dry, crisp sparkling wine. Enjoy the strawberry aroma and dry taste.
It is perfect for a variety of occasions, such as a welcome drink or toast, or as a casual drink at a barbecue. It also pairs well with marinades and Chinese cuisine.
12.5% ABV

Vinification:
This wine is made using saignée and the Charmat method, in which still wine (non-sparkling wine) is subjected to a secondary fermentation in tank.

The Winery:
MGVs is short for Matsuzaka Green Vineyards, the vision of Hiroshi Matsuzaka, a former semi-conductor factory owner who started to follow his dream of wine.

MGVs aims to respect the terroir and make the most of their wines.  They work methodically to match grape varieties to the vineyards in Yamanshi. In the pursuit of the honest flavors that can only be produced in a particular year and a particular place, they cultivate grape varieties unique to Japan in Japanese soil and vinify them in Yamanashi.  Never to be duplicated.

The Label:
All MGVs wine names are represented on the label by an alphabetical letter, followed by a three-digit number. The first letter identifies the grape. K= Koshu, B= Muscat Bailey A. The next number is the location of the vineyard, for example 1-4 are single-vineyards, and 5 is anywhere in Yamanashi. The 2nd number is the pressing style.
