About This Product :
Varietal:
100% Koshu
The Koshu grape is a variety unique to Japan that has been cultivated in Katsunuma for many centuries. When ripe, bunches of Koshu grapes turn a wisteria (light purple) color. When crushed, the grapes produce a delicate greenish-white juice, but as the juice quickly oxidizes, it is important to avoid exposure to the air. There is some debate as to whether this grape came from the country now known as The Republic of Georgia over the silk road with the spread of Buddhism.
Appellation:
Yamanashi, Japan
The Wine:
Similar to an elegant Burgundian Pinot Blanc, this dry white wine’s lightly fruity aroma and light mouthfeel will bring out the delicious flavors of your food.
Its simple flavor is enhanced by the complex taste of the pressed juice, giving it the distinct flavor of Koshu grapes.
Enjoy well chilled.
12.5% ABV

Fermentation in Stainless Steel Tanks.

The Winery:
MGVs is short for Matsuzaka Green Vineyards, the vision of Hiroshi Matsuzaka, a former semi-conductor factory owner who started to follow his dream of wine.
MGVs aims to respect the terroir and make the most of their wines. They work methodically to match grape varieties to the vineyards in Yamanshi. In the pursuit of the honest flavors that can only be produced in a particular year and a particular place, they cultivate grape varieties unique to Japan in Japanese soil and vinify them in Yamanashi. Never to be duplicated.
The Label:
All MGVs wine names are represented on the label by an alphabetical letter, followed by a three-digit number. The first letter identifies the grape. K= Koshu, M= Muscat Bailey A. The next number is the location of the vineyard, for example 1-4 are single-vineyards, and 5 is anywhere in Yamanashi. The 2nd number is the pressing style. Macerated with skins or free-run, etc., and the 3rd number is the ageing. Stainless steel or barrel or methode champenoise. You can find the detailed explanation over here: MGVs naming
