The Spirit:
Ohoro means “to continue” in the language of the Ainu, the indigenous people of Hokkaido. Niseko Distillery hopes the gin crafted in Niseko, Hokkaido, will be enjoyed by many for generations to come. The gin is a clear, smooth, yet robust flavor with a light citrus aroma that makes an excellent base for cocktails. Absolutely sublime neat, with beautiful nuances of yuzu, chamomile, and coriander. Recommended for Gin & Tonic, White Lady, Gimlet, and Martini cocktails.
The Ingredients
Made using Hokkaido-grown Hokkaido sweet myrica gale, Japanese mint, juniper berry, coriander, angelica, root, orris root, licorice, chamomile, lemon, orange, yuzu, lime, grapefruit as the botanicals. Brewed in the high-quality subterranean water (soft water) of Niseko Annupuri.
The Distillery:
Niseko is a distillery started by the makers of HAKKAISAN sake up in Hokkaido (the northern-most island of Japan.) We emphasize the spirit of Niseko, which is to live at one with nature. Niseko distillery sits quietly in a protected forest. We are making whiskey that is at one with nature in the beautiful forest of Niseko Annupuri.
We use a lot of local shiribeshi larch as the material inside the building and manufacture it in a space where you can feel the warmth of the wood. The water used is high-quality underground water from Niseko Annupuri.
The storage facility is kept at the same temperature as the natural environment of Niseko. The cool climate allows for slow and gentle maturation throughout the year.
