This non-alcoholic Grüner Veltliner offers the classic flavor of an Austrian white wine without alcohol. It seduces with a fresh palate of green apples, citrus fruits and fine herbal spices -it is tangy and light on the palate. Perfect for anyone who wants to avoid alcohol without sacrificing flavor.

The Wine:
Frei Vogel means “Free Bird” in Austrian. This non-alcoholic wine is produced by removing the alcohol from a traditionally produced Grüner Veltliner. Grapes are grown in lower Austria with the specific aim of producing an alcohol-free wine. A high-quality base wine naturally low in alcohol is required to produce a great alcohol-free wine. This requires harvesting grapes early to ensure good acidity and not too much ripeness. If the grapes have too much sugar, more alcohol will have to be removed, and this has a direct impact on the final quality of the wine. After harvest, the grapes are softly pressed, and the resulting must is transferred to stainless steel tanks where it is fermented by cultured yeasts under temperature control. The finished wine is then ready to have the alcohol removed. This is achieved by the simple process of vacuum distillation. The wine is transferred to a vacuum distillation column. This keeps the wine under very low pressure -significantly less than the regular atmosphere. The low pressure reduces the normal boiling point of wine (173°F), all the way down to 85°F. This allows the alcohol to slowly and gently evaporate while retaining the natural aroma and character of the wine. The finished dealcoholized Grüner Veltliner is kept cool in stainless steel tanks until bottling.Vegan and Vegetarian Friendly.

The Winery:
Frei Vogel is produced by Winzer Krems, a grower’s cooperative located in small picturesque town of Krems, in the heart of the NiederӧsterreichDAC. This famous region is situated in the Danube Valley, 40 miles west of Vienna, and marks the eastern border of one of Europe’s most beautiful river landscapes -the Wachau. Winzer Kremsis owned by 880 winegrowers who grow their grapes on nearly 3,000 acres in Kremsand the surrounding wine growing regions. The winegrowers observe guidelines for pruning, soil treatment, foliage treatment and pest management. Quality consultants confirm compliance with these guidelines throughout the entire cycle of the wine year.
